The All Progressives Congress, APC, has been declared winner of all contested positions in the Saturday Local Government Elections in Kogi State.

APC won all 21 Chairmanship and 239 Councilorship positions.

The outcome of the election was declared on Saturday night by the chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, KOSIEC, Mamman Nda Eri, at the premises of the state election umpire.

The KOSIEC office was barricaded and under heavy security surveillance.

The state electoral umpire did not disclose the statistics of the number of votes cast and what each party recorded.

The chairman only announced the names of the winners and their party.

He said that the results have been declared by each electoral officer at the Local government level, noting that he was only confirming the field results.

Eri thanked the people of the state for participating in the election, as well as observers, security agencies, and staff of the commission for their roles in ensuring a peaceful election.
