The member representing Yagba/Mopa Moro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide said on Monday, July 29, that he is not considering dumping his party, the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) for now.

Abejide, who is also the chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise, however, said that he may be forced to decamp to the All Progressives Congress (APC) if his party, the Africa Democratic Congress becomes too hot for him.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, Abejide who is the highest political office holder on the platform of the ADC said it we unfortunate that the national chairman of the ADC, Chief Ralph Nwosu will take a position on national issues without consulting him.

He, however, said that he remains a member of the ADC and is not planning to leave the party for now, but will only do so if things become unbearable.

He said: “I was in APC before joining the ADC. I left the party out of frustration by the former governor of my state.

“What happened was that our leader, late Prince Abubakar Audu died and we felt that the next person to take over from him was James Faleke, but things did not work that way. We took it as an act of God and we could work with the new government. But the government failed to work with us.

“I am a grassroots politician and I went to the ADC and contested and because I am always with the people, they voted for me and not the party. I won the election even from a small party.

“The problem is that during the 2023 Presidential election, I supported Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while my national chairman supported Peter Obi of the Labour Party. But if I keep getting frustrated from the party, I will have no choice but to join the APC.

“I have been the one that has saved the party from being deregistered and because of what I achieved, the next constituency to mine voted for ADC because they wanted to enjoy what we are enjoying. We even produced a state Assembly member. But the others have left for APC”.
