Abused Lokoja Woman’s Daughter Confirms Govt’s Intervention

The lady who cried out for help over her father’s abuse of her mother and siblings in Lokoja, Kolade Princess Damilola (Princess Effect), has confirmed that the Kogi State Ministry of Women Affairs has waded into the matter and commenced investigation.

Damilola made this known in a statement shared via Twitter on Wednesday.

Recall that in a video she shared last week, her father was seen savagely beating her mother (named withheld).

“The commissioner of women affairs has taken over the matter. They are investigating him (her father). Hoping for a positive result,” Damilola wrote to FIJ last week.

“The women ministry has assured my family that they’ll come to the house to do a monthly check-up, since my mum’s will is to stay with him. I actually didn’t want that, but next time this occurs, according to the first lady, my dad would be arrested,” Damilola tweeted on Wednesday.

“He’ll also serve a jail term and his name would be all around, because I don’t really care anymore about whatever his image is. My mum’s life is very important to me.”

Damilola had made a public appeal when the officers of the Kogi Police Command dismissed the report about the abuse.

She later revealed that Fatima Kabir Buba, the Kogi state commissioner for women affairs, had interfered.

The Domestic & Sexual Violence Response Agency states that domestic violence is a continuing threat to the victim’s life and the lives of others (including children’s).
