The plan by political stakeholders of the Kogi East extraction to field a consensus candidate from the zone for November 11th governorship election in the state, may have been short-lived, after the candidate of the Labour Party, Adejoh Okeme and his members pulled out of the meeting.
The meeting, ebirareporters.com learnt, was convened at Anyigba in an impromptu arrangement to promote an Igala candidate.
However, Barrister Okeme said he was left out of the arrangements, alleging that the planning committee were aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“I’m here on an impromptu invitation and as a good son of the soil, I yielded even to honour the invitation. And up till now, invitation of this magnitude is something that should come with a letter to know the intent and all the purposes of the invitation. Up till now, there’s no message and I’m just let out of the entire stuff.
“The composition of this said committee are aggrieved parties of the APC and the PDP. We have competent and intellectual Igala people all round the globe.
“Igalas are known for competence, and I’m not just a Governor for Igala, I’m a Governor for the entire state. Labour Party is a party that has structure all over the state. Labour Party is for the Igalas, for the Okuns and for the Ebiras,” he said.
Okeme added that he is opened to another meeting under the leadership of the Igala elders, and with appropriate invitations.
