The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Onogwu Muhammed on Wednesday said that the Governor is the most criticized in Nigeria.
Muhammed said this in a radio interview on Nigeria Info, while reacting to a caller who queried the role played by the Governor in the detention of two anti-Buhari protesters in the state.
The protesters, Emmanuel Larry and Victor Udoka who were detained in Kogi for participating in the #Buharimustgo protest have both been granted bail after spending 68 days in Nigeria Correctional Centre in Kabba.
Muhammed said that despite being the most criticized in Nigeria, Governor Bello believes in the rule of law and would never go after his critics.
“The Governor we are talking about today, is the most criticized in the whole Nigeria. People have insulted him, called him all kinds of names everyday, and he has never asked any of his political appointees or any officials of the government to go after any individual.
“He always believes that when people criticize you, it means there is something they are drawing your attention to that you are not doing right.
“Now, if you’re talking about people who were protesting and were arrested, in the administration of criminal justice in Nigeria, the police, the court and the Correctional service. If arrest were made of people who were in protest, it is not the Governor,” he said.
He added that the state is collaborating with the Governor of other states in the North Central towards ensuring that insecurity is curtailed in the region.
