Kogi Central: Natasha Akpoti Wins PDP Senate Ticket

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the People’s Democratic Party in Kogi State on Wednesday elected Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan as the party’s senate candidate for the central senatorial district of the state.

Akpoti polled 159 out of 171 delegate votes to defeat her opponents in the ticket race.

The primary election witnessed a last minute withdrawal of former Senator, Ahmed Ogembe at the Kahal Cinema venue.

Akpoti, joined the party two months ago, having left the Social Democratic Party where she had ran for both Senate and Governorship elections last four years.

With the development, she made history as the first female aspirant to ever fly the senatorial flag of the People’s Democratic Party in the district.

She will be facing the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, at the general elections.

Baring any further postponement, the APC primary election will begin by this weekend.
