Gunmen Abduct APC Youth Leader, Wife in Kogi Community

Gunmen have abducted an All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader, Mr. Arome Adaji, alongside his wife, Justina, from their residence in Abocho, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, when heavily armed men invaded the couple’s home along Ajegwuna Road, firing sporadic gunshots to scare away residents before forcefully taking the victims away.

A local resident, identified as Ndamodu, stated that neighbors were forced to seek cover during the rapid gunfire and only discovered the abduction after the attackers had fled the scene.

Reacting to the incident, a community leader in the area, Surveyor Agono Eneogba, stated that security patrols on major roads by police, vigilantes, and local hunters have forced criminal elements to shift their operations toward private residences, farms, and isolated settlements across Kogi East.

The abduction follows a series of recent security incidents in the region, including the abduction and subsequent death in captivity of Rosemary Adukwu, the late councillor representing Ogugu Ward III in Olamaboro Local Government Area.

When contacted for an official update on the incident and ongoing rescue operations, the Public Relations Officer for the Kogi State Police Command, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, acknowledged the inquiry with a brief response stating, “Noted,” without providing further details.
