The Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Jibrin Echocho has threatened to contest the next governorship election in Kogi State, threatening Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo over the outcome of the All Progressives Congress Senate primary election in the state.
Senator Echocho, visibly enraged in a video message, expressed anger and dissatisfaction with Governor Ododo whom he noted has enjoyed his loyalty, but threatened by his third term bid.
As what political analysts have described as a planned revenge against the reelection of Governor Ododo, the aggrieved Senator threatened to join the governorship race.
“I am going to contest with you. I have the right,” Echocho stated, while also noting his support for the administration in Kogi.
“I have been very supportive of your administration. I have been very loyal to you and to GYB. Why do you want to deny Kogi East the best representation ever. I have told everybody who cares to listen that I don’t want to contest for Governor. I have told everybody who cares to listen that the structures I am putting in Kogi East, the physical structures and the various empowerment programmes as the only thing that can guarantee the success of Mr. President of Nigeria in the upcoming election, and probably your own election if you get the ticket for second tenure. These I have told who ever cares to listen.
“But since you are now out to fight me, take it from me today, the battle line has been drawn,” he stated.
Echocho said not election was conducted at his ward but results were prepared at the Government House a day to the election.
“That result is a nullity, and that result can not even be announced,” he said.
