The Kogi State Government has put in motion, plans to create the state Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction to fully consolidate on the works of the Federal Government in the state.
Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello announced the plan on Tuesday at the flag-off of distribution of grants to vulnerable groups by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu.
Bello thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking on the renewed hope grant for the poor, describing the President as a humanitarian.
He described the initiative as a wise and wonderful initiative to eradicate hunger from homes and communities across the country.
“Mr. President is a humanitarian personified. Very humane and caring person, a builder of human beings and the nation,”he said.
One of the beneficiaries who received the 20,000 grant, Mrs. Umar Maryam, thanked the government for the intervention, prayed for more outreaches to the vulnerable while also assuring to make wise use of the grant.
