The Governing Council of Iheris University Togo, on Wednesday disclosed the approval of the institution to to confer a Honourary Doctorate Degree on International Relations and Conflict Resolutions, on the President of Khalif Cares Foundation, Distinguished Khalifa Abdulrahaman Okene.
The Registrar of the Pan European University, Dr. Adamu Muhammad Wakili disclosed this when he led a delegation of the institution to deliver the letter of notification to the recipient.
According to the Registrar, the council has also approved recommendations to name the University’s Library after the philanthropist.
“As a scrooge who is resolute using his legitimate and hard earned wealth in changing humanity, both social, economic and religious predicaments as an instinctual benevolence part of life mustering respect and admiration which the society is vainglorious about.
“Your humanitarian activities is worthy of accolade and epitomize for others to emulate.
“This is whence the Iheris University, Togo, Governing Council swooning to trenchant their strong infactuation, elated by the dint of your colossal selfless philanthropy to inform you of their willingness to name you, Sir, after its Library to immortalize you as an emblematic sign of philanthropy.”
The conferment of Honourary Doctorate Degree has been scheduled to hold on October 30th, 2021 at the Palaise de Congress, Lome, Togo.
In commemoration of the honour, the University also gave Okene tuition-free scholarship slots for 20 less privileged students to be admitted into their various undergraduate programmes.
Receiving the letter, Okene thanked the institution for the honour, describing it a motivation to do more for humanity.
“I am more than overwhelmed for this recognition and honour, and want to appreciate you all for celebrating me in this regard. Our very essence of living is for humanity, and I have lived by this philosophy since childhood.
“I am happy in no small measure, and I promise to be at the beck and call of the University at all times. I have nothing else to say than thank you for this singular honour.”
Also in the delegation was the Sarkin Arewa West Africa, HRH. Amb. Jodah Makinta who also conferred on Okene, the Jigadiyan of West Africa students.
