President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to Senator Smart Adeyemi following the death of his mother, Princess Victoria Oyeyemi Adeyemi (née Ibilola).
In a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the late Princess Adeyemi as a respected matriarch and community leader known for her humility, kindness, and peaceful nature.
He noted that her legacy remains strong, particularly in the Iyara community of Kogi State and in Niger State, where she spent 45 years raising her six children before relocating to Abuja.
Also, te Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, commiserated with Senator Adeyemi in a condolence message issued on behalf of the Government and people of Kogi State. Governor Ododo expressed deep sadness over the passing of the late matriarch, describing her as a woman of grace, dignity, and unwavering faith.
“Mama was not only a pillar in her family but also a respected matriarch whose positive influence extended beyond her immediate community. Her values of discipline, compassion, and service are clearly reflected in the lives she touched and the legacy she leaves behind,” the Governor said.
He noted that while her passing is painful, there is comfort in the fact that she lived a fulfilled life, raising children and grandchildren who continue to make meaningful contributions to society.
Governor Ododo prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and for strength and comfort for Senator Adeyemi, the Adeyemi family, and all those mourning her loss.
“We stand with the family at this difficult time and offer our prayers and support,” he said.
