A two-term member of the House of Representatives, Sunday Karimi has emerged winner of the Senate election in Kogi West Senatorial District.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Karimi winner on Monday, two days after the election.
According to the declared results, Karimi who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 70,184.
His closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) TJ Yusuf came second in the election with 51,964 votes.
Meanwhile, in Kogi East senatorial district, Jibrin Isah Echocho has retained his seat at the red chamber.
Echocho emerged winner of the election having polled the highest votes, as stated by the Returning Officer, Professor Musa Adeku Ibrahim.
He defeated the candidate of the PDP, Victor Adoji for the second time in two consecutive election years.
