Twelve matchweeks have been played, 26 more to go, in what has been an action packed, end-to-end matches which sets the stage for a dramatic Premier League season.

With a round of international break fixtures to play before the return of club football, nothing short of an high anticipated matchweek 14 for Premier League fans as the top two teams go head to head for the number spot.

Here is what awaits us in the Premier League.

Manchester City will host Liverpool in what has become a title challenge match in previous seasons. City edged this fixture on their way to the title 4-1 in April last season – they’ve not won consecutive league games against the Reds since a run of four between 1935 and 1937.

Liverpool have won just one of their last 14 Premier League away games against Man City (D5 L8), winning 4-1 in November 2015 in Jürgen Klopp’s first visit to the Etihad with the club.

Chelsea travel to Newcastle after their entertaining and brave display at home to City in their last match. Newcastle United are yet to lose a single Saturday 3pm Premier League kick off under manager Eddie Howe (W12 D6). However, the last side to beat the Magpies in this slot were Chelsea at St James’ Park back in October 2021.

Manchester United will look to capitalise on the issues surrounding Everton as the Red Devils go to Goodison Park. After a run of wins, Manchester United sits decent on the league table with their poor start to the campaign almost forgotten.

Everton are unfortunate to have 10 points deduction for breach of Premier League profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) for the season ending 2021-22. The Merseyside club have had better performances on the pitch and was moving out of the relegation zone before this sanction.
