Delegates to the 2026 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have elected Abdulrahaman Mohammed as the National Chairman of the party.
Mr Mohammed and other new members of the National Working Committee were elected through consensus votes to lead the party for the next four years.
Members of the new NWC, as announced by the chairman of the party’s Convention Electoral Committee, Sandy Onor, are Aaron Chukwuemeka, deputy national chairman (South), Yusufu Akirikwen, deputy national chairman (North), Samuel Anyanwu, national secretary, Kolawole Olabisi, deputy national secretary, Diran Odeyemi, national treasurer and Lado Mark, deputy national treasurer.
Eyim Henry is now the national financial secretary, Grema Kyari, deputy national financial secretary; Umar Bature, national organising secretary; Efere Augustine, deputy national organising secretary; Jungudo Mohammed, national publicity secretary; Egwu Chidiebere, deputy national publicity secretary; Kamaldeen Ajibade, national legal adviser; and Aloysius Uba, deputy national legal adviser.
While Osuoha Donatus was elected national auditor, Adaba Yatu emerged as deputy national auditor, Ogunshe Adedayo as national woman leader and Hauwa Shinge as deputy national woman leader. Ibrahim Aboki emerged as the national youth leader, with Momoh Bashir as deputy national youth leader.
The new NWC members were sworn in immediately.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Mohammed pledged not to disappoint the party. He also promised that the new NWC would work with the party leadership to promote unity and reposition PDP for electoral victory in 2027.
