Fanwo said the state has embarked on improving healthcare infrastructure, springing up hospitals across the state and upgrading facilities.

“It is one of the places that is providing what I call health tourism. The referral hospital in Okene is about 70 percent completed and we want it to be one of the best in the country. The quality of the facilities that we are importing to put there, will make it the centre. People will not have to go to Germany, UK, U.S. to access quality medicare.

“We are concentrating on improving on our Healthcare infrastructure, health care facilities across the state. We are turning Kogi to the Healthcare delivery Centre of the nation with the high quality A-list hospitals that are springing up all over the state.

“Recently, the Zonal Hospital Idah has become a specialist hospital. We have upgraded the facility and ensured that it could provide secondary health care services to the people of the state. Also, we have Zonal hospitals springing up across the state, in Jegu, in Isanlu and all those places we have these hospitals coming to light, we are close to 60 percent of the project, and we hope to be able to complete those projects and commission them before the end of the year.

According to him, Kogi is one of the healthiest states in Nigeria.

“We are doing all of these because we want to make Kogi the Healthcare Centre of the nation. And we want to ensure that we don’t encourage people flying abroad at the slightest opportunity in the name of going there to access Healthcare.
