Okene/Ogori-Magongo: Bankers Purchase Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for Dr. Nasiru Usman Bello

In appreciation of his contribution to securing employment and platform to actualize their banking careers, some Ebira sons and daughters whom were employed into various banks by Dr. Nasiru Usman Bello have purchased nomination and expression of interest forms for the philanthropist.

The bankers, about 57 of them, raised over 12 million Naira for the House of Representatives’ forms sold by the All Progressives Congress, APC for ten million naira.

Speaking with newsmen, they stated that the gesture was the least they could do to repay the opportunity Bello gave to them and their families.

Receiving the forms in great delight, the aspirant said the gesture came to him as a surprise, stating that his benevolence to the society was a matter of passion and the zeal to impact humanity.

“This is a confirmation that it is good to be good,” he said.

He thereafter thanked them and wished them God’s blessings in the pursuit of their dreams, pledging to do more for others irrespective of background when the opportunity presents itself.

Bello, who is aspiring for the second time, to represent the people of Okene/Ogori-Magongo Constituency at the House of Representatives in the forthcoming elections.

The astute Banker was born on the 7th December, 1974 to the family of Amb Usman Bello in Okene-Eba, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.

He started his banking career with the then African International Bank in Kano, where he observed his mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) between 1999-2000. Pleased with the enticeable value he added to the African International Bank within one service year as a corps member, he joined the services of the then Bank of the North in 2000 as an officer, and rose to the position of supervisor in just two years.

While working with Bank of the North, yet poised to furnish himself with the professional essentials for growth in his choice career, he enrolled into Bayero University Kano, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration in 2003. Bello left Bank of the North in 2004, and joined the then Intercontinental Bank as an Assistant Banking Officer, serving in both Katsina and Gombe states. In 2005, he moved to Guaranteed Trust Bank (GTB) as a Banking Officer, and rose to the position of Deputy Manager. During the period of his service with GTB, he equally went for further studies and obtained a Masters in Developmental Studies from Bayero University Kano, in 2007.

After 10 years of remarkable service with GTB, he joined the services of Access Bank as the Group Head (North) in charge of retail business till date.

He is a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management,and the Chattered Institute of Banking in Nigeria (CIBN). With his present rank in the banking sector, he has created employment opportunities for youths across Kogi state, with not less than thirty (30) of them from the central, currently wielding a career in banking.

With a passionate enthusiasm for a philanthropic cause both within and outside the central senatorial district of Kogi state, he has for umpteenth times empowered youths and women in vocational training, and provided medical assistance to the challenged. Also currently under his scholarship are not less than 15 students drawn from across various levels of education.

Recently, he was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration at the Escae Benin University in Benin Republic.
