Lawmaker Indicts Ajaka as Hoodlums Attack APC Secretariat in Kogi

Political thugs suspected to be loyalists of Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Sunday vandalized the party secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ajaka, headquarters of Igalamela-Odolu local government of Kogi state.

Reacting to the incident, a former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Barr. Cosmas Atabor, decried the repeat unprovoked attack on the secretariat.

Atabor, a member of the 7th Kogi State House of Assembly, fingered supporters of SDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka.

He said the secretariat, a personal property which he donated to APC for use as office in the local government, was vandalized two weeks ago by same thugs.

“Thugs loyal to Muri of SDP attacked my property again on Sunday, but ran away only after destroying the banners hanged on the office.

“This penchant for using thugs by Muri of SDP is unbelievable and distressing especially after all I and the APC stakeholders did in 2015 and 2019 to stamp out thuggery in Igalamela-Odolu LGA,” he said.

APC Chairman, Igalamela-Odolu LGA chapter, Alilu Omo, decried the incessant attacks on the party in the local government.

Alilu said the hoodlums came in broad daylight to attack the party secretariat, adding that their identities are not hidden.

He accused supporters of SDP candidate of political intolerance, stressing that such hostilities cannot guarantee electoral victory.

“Everybody is free to support whomever they believe can help move the state forward. We in the APC are not after anybody. Rather, we are working relentlessly to get more members into our fold,” he said.

The party chairman stated that the incidents have been reported to the Police.
