Abducted Kogi Varsity Dean Regains Freedom

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the release of Prof. James Alabi, Dean, Management Sciences, Kogi State University Anyigba from the hands of his abductors.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP William Aya disclosed that the lecturer regained his freedom on Saturday night after six days in kidnappers’ Den.

Prof. Alabi was kidnapped last Monday at about 6pm, while he was about to enter his apartment.

It was gathered that the fully armed gunmen drove in a Mercedes-Benz car and accosted the Dean University Don, whisking him away to an unknown destination.

A family source disclosed that the abductors contacted the family and the management of Kogi State University, and demanded N20 million.

Following his release, Aya said Prof. Alabi had since reunited with his family.

According to the PPRO, the Police swung into action immediately the Lecturer was kidnapped and ensured that he was released unhurt.
