Kogi PDP Caretaker C’ttee Suspends Ad-hoc Ward Congress Indefinitely

The Caretaker Committee (CTC) of Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Senator Danjuma Laah, and the chairman of Congress Committee, have suspended the Ward Congress in the State earlier scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 2024.

A statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Chief Dayo Akande, said the indefinite suspension of the exercise followed the carting away of sensitive voting materials for the Ward Congress by a group of unknown persons in the full glare of INEC observers present.

“The decision to suspend the ward congress became necessary when hoodlums and unidentified thugs invaded the state secretariat and made away with sensitive electoral materials. This effort was in collaboration with the Congress committee chairman, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Boyelayefa Debeleme.

“The impersonators came with an 18-seater bus and other vehicles without any means of identification. All these happened in the presence of the INEC observer. These unauthorized persons went away with all sensitive materials meant for the Congres across the 239 wards of the 21 LGAs of the state.

“The CTC condemns this act in the strongest terms possible. We urge INEC and other institutions to disregard any purported result that might emanate from the illegal exercise,” the statement said.
