One of the candidates who contested for House of Representatives in the last general elections, Olaiya Michael Olobatoke, is dead.
Olobatoke, popularly called OMO, died on Wednesday, his family has confirmed.
The politician contested under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, an election he lost.
In a statement shared using the deceased’s Facebook handle, the family said, “with pain in our hearts but gratitude to God Almighty, we announce the passing away of our brother, leader, mentor, and friend, Chief Olaiya Micheal Olobatoke (OMO) whose sudden demise happened on Wednesday in Abuja.
The statement said that burial arrangements will be further communicated.
