Kogi Guber: Mubarak Appeals Judgment to Challenge Removal as NNPP Candidate

The erstwhile candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State, Musa Mubarak Abuche has vowed to appeal the court judgment which disqualified him as the candidate of the party.

ebirareporters.com recalls that a Federal High Court Abuja, on Tuesday, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish the name of Mr Hassan Abdullahi Baiwa as the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP)’s bonafide candidate for the governorship election in November 11th.

Reacting to the court judgment, the ousted candidate, Mubarak rejected the ruling, and directed his legal team to appeal immediately.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Adejoh Darlington Uhiene, he insisted that the primary election which produced him was acknowledged by the party and INEC.

Mubarak, therefore, urged his supporters to ignore rumours and continue to sell his mandate to the public.

“We wish to state without mincing words that we reject the pronouncement in it’s entirety and as a law abiding entity, we have consequently done the needful by directing our legal team to appeal the judgment immediately.

“We are aware of the concern and inconveniences that this may have occasioned you but we entreat you to remain steadfast and continue with your message of goodwill to Kogites as we have employed all legal means to correct this anomaly.

“Alhaji Mubarak remains the candidate recognized by the Party and INEC . And the position of the party on the choice of its candidate stands supreme.

“Our campaign strategies and planning are intact. Nothing will change. We shall be carrying everybody along as new developments continue to trickle out.

“Finally I beseech all of you to ignore unfounded rumors and continue to be law abiding as we continue to propagate our robust and ambitious manifesto to taking Kogi state to its highest potentials,” he said.
