Kogi Wins 3 Medals at National Para Games

The Kogi team at the ongoing 3rd National Para Games in Abuja have won three medals for the state.

Dorcas Tanimu and Radhidat Isa won silver medals respectively in Riffle shooting, while Albert Megbehingbe clinched a bronze medal in the Para powerlifting, 80kg for men.

The National Para Games is the biggest para sports event in Nigeria. The third National Para Games, which began March 26, will be on till April 3, 2026, bringing together over 3,000 athletes from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The coach of the Riffle shooting, Ali Yusuf Adagiri, said his athletes had an outstanding performance, but ran out of luck to win the gold medal.

He appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Aridaojo Monday Anyebe for their support.

Similarly, the coach of Power lifting, Blessing Idoko commended her athlete for his performance.

She also used the opportunity to thank the state Governor and the Commissioner for ensuring Kogi State participated in the 3rd National Para games, making the state to have it’s maiden debut.

Reacting to the gains, the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Aridaojo Monday Anyebe represented by the Director Sports Development in the ministry, Mr. Aje Paul congratulated the athletes for making the state proud.

He assured them of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s continued support in promoting sports development in the state.

Also reacting, the Kogi state Director, Sports Council, Mr Igah Abel James thanked the state government for sponsoring athletes and their coaches to the games and appealed for continued support towards the progress of sporting activities in the state.
