Gunmen on Saturday morning abducted the Chief Executive Officer of Always Petroleum, Muhammed Jamiu Idris from his residence in Idare, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.
A neigbour who did not want his name mentioned told Ebira Reporters that the gunmen dressed in white, stormed the victim’s house with sophisticated weapon and whisked him away to an unknown destination.
“We did not know when they entered the house, until we heard shouts from his compound. By the time we could get there, they already moved him through the back road, ” he said.
The source disclosed that the gunmen set their vehicle on fire on a narrow road to buy time as they set off on foot.
“About seven of us tracked them, and when we got on a hill, we saw them afar trekking on foot. Then we started shouting. When they saw us, they left two of their men behind to wait while they continued,” he said.
Always, as he is fondly called, was reportedly beaten and tied before they whisked him away to an unknown destination.
No contact has been made from the kidnappers to any of the family members at the time of filing this report.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi State, SP William Ovye Aya about the incident proved abortive as he did not pick up calls or respond to text messages sent to his phone line.
