Kogi Guber: Smart Adeyemi Dares APC Aspirants to Debate, Says Gov. Bello  Misled

Senator Smart Adeyemi (Kogi West) has challenged governorship aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially those who served under Governor Yahaya Bello in Kogi State to a debate on antecedents and plans for the state.

Adeyemi dared the aspirants while fielding questions on Channels TV’s flagship programme, Politics Today with Seun Okinbaloye.

ebirareporters.com reports that the lawmaker who is also vying to succeed Governor Yahaya Bello, stated that the debate would be a platform to point out to Nigerians where the other aspirants failed.

“I’ve challenged all the other aspirants in APC, maybe you’ll want to host us for a debate here. I’m challenging them to come, because a quite of them are members of the outgoing government, let them come and tell Nigerians what they want to do and what they failed to do in times past. And I will tell them what they didn’t do, and what I want to do,” he said.

On his relationship with Governor Yahaya Bello, the lawmaker said the Governor was aware that he is in the race and they don’t have problem. “I told him and he asked me to go ahead,” he said.

However, Adeyemi who clamored for powershift to Kogi West, said whomever Governor Bello supports in the election will define his statesmanship.

“We must rise above sentiment. He’s a good guy, take it from me, Yahaya is a good guy. But he’s sorrounded by people of questionable characters who are misleading him.

According to the Senator, Kogi West has not produced a Governor for the past 32 years, being one of the reasons why power must shift.

“For 32 years we have been voting for others. We are not a conquered people. Common sense, fairness dictates. The world is governed by fairness. How come Russia has not been able to overrun Ukraine? The world will not allow it, there must be fairness. Even in war, there must be fairness.

Adeyemi said he is most competent amongst the aspirants, and sellable to win the governorship election with the party’s ticket.

“My antecedent speaks for me. I’m highly educated, I’m exposed, I’m intelligent, I’m exposed and I know the needs of my people,” he stated.
