Following the first stakeholders’ meeting and the announcement of the timetable for the Kogi State Local Government election in Lokoja, the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has launched a grassroots sensitization campaign across the state.
The Commission began its sensitization efforts with a visit to the palace of the Attah of Igala Kingdom, HRM Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II, on Tuesday. The paramount ruler offered his blessings for a successful election.
Subsequently, KOSIEC held a town hall meeting with stakeholders from the nine local government areas in the Eastern Senatorial District of the state.
Addressing the outlook of the upcoming elections, the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri, encouraged voters to participate actively by coming out with their voters’ cards on October 19, 2024, to vote for candidates of their choice.
He urged voters to conduct themselves peacefully to prevent any casualties, emphasising that no lives or property should be endangered during the election process.
Hon. Mamman Nda Eri called on Chief Security Officers at the Local Government level to maintain vigilance during the exercise, reiterating the Commission’s commitment to ensuring a smooth electoral process.
