Kogi Deputy Governor Onoja, Asuku, Others Withdraw from Guber Race

The outcome of the political parley between Governor Yahaya Bello and aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja, was a tsunami of withdrawals from the race.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Edward Onoja; former Chief of Staff to the Governor, Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, former Finance Commissioner and Accountant General of the state, Asiwaju Asiru Idris and Momoh Jibril have all withdrawn from the race.

Sources at the meeting told ebirareporters.com that the decision was at the instance of the Governor to front a unanimous candidate from his team.

The source noted the tendency of the support for the former Auditor-General for Local Government, Usman Ododo.

“To God be the glory for life and divine health. My appreciation to my leader, HE Alhaji Yahaya Bello and all my supporters for your love and prayers. Let love, patience and peseverance lead. I am forever grateful,” Onoja said after his withdrawal.

Also confirming his withdrawal form the race, the former Chief of staff, Asuku pledged his loyalty to the party and the leadership.

He said: “I sincerely appreciate His Excellency my benefactor, for all that Allah have been using him to do in my life. As such, I hereby submit my self publicly to the decision taken today and I will forever live to remain loyal and dedicated to the decision of my party as I enjoin all my well wishers to work with us for our great party APC to become victorious in the November 11th General Election.”

Meanwhile, the embattled aspirant, Murtala Yakubu who was earlier sighted at the Government House, shunned the meeting.

Senator Smart Adeyemi (Kogi West) who is also an aspirant, did attend the meeting.
