INEC Registers Over 25,000 During CVR Exercise in Kogi ― Prof Apam

The Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. James Apam has disclosed that the commission has so far registered over 25,000 voters in the ongoing continuous voter’s registration (CVR) exercise in the state.

The Electoral Commissioner disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Lokoja, the state capital.

Prof Akpam said that in the second quarter, 13,579 fresh applications were completed while other types of applications include 1,680 for Permanent Voter’s Card replacement and 5,426 for voter cards transfer, 1,851 for information update, 1,426 for review and 3,579 for online pre-registration online. Tribune is reporting.

Prof Akpam, who debunked rumours that some staff of the commission were found collecting money for the update, said the information is coming from elements who are hell-bent to tarnish the good records of the commission.

He explained that only those who did their registration online at the cyber cafe were subjected to pay for service charges at their business centres

The commissioner warned staff of the commission not to embark on any fraudulent acts and desist forthwith as anyone found guilty would be punished in accordance with the commission’s rules.

He stressed that the commission is presently going around the state to monitor the level of compliance at the various Local government Areas of the state.

Prof Apam disclosed that the commission’s local government areas offices are opened to the citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card ahead of the 2023 general elections.
