Independence Day: FG Declares October 1st Public Holiday

In commemoration of Nigeria’s 61st Independence day, the Federal Government has declared Friday, October 1 a public holiday.

The declaration was made on behalf of the Federal Government by Minister of the Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. 

He congratulated all Nigerians on the country’s 61st independence anniversary and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing and eradicating all forms of challenges and problems.  

According to Aregbesola, “Our warmth, welcoming spirit, and love, combined with the abundant wealth inherent in our human capital and the richness of our land, make Nigeria unquestionably the leading black nation in the world and Africa’s pride and beacon of hope, if we can rally together to harness our potentials.” 

“A country of approximately 200 million people and above whose inherent talent, grit, and passion sparkle like the priceless DIAMOND that we are,” he said in a statement signed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Dr Shuaib Belgore.
