ICPC Opens New Office in Kogi

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), on Thursday, opened the newly-built office for the anti-graft agency in Kogi State.

The Chairman of ICPC, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, disclosed the development in a statement, noting that the new office is situated within the 500 Units Housing Estate on Ganaja Road in Lokoja, the state capital.

He said in the statement that, “this new building has unique importance for two reasons; it is in fulfilment of the ICPC’s dream to own its offices in all the states of the federation and to support and complement every worthy effort of the Kogi State government at dealing with corruption, promoting accountability, transparency in governance, and building a culture of integrity among the citizenry.

“This is the fourth prototype office building opened since the inception of the current board of the commission in 2019, and I wish to thank the government and the people of Kogi for your generous support in providing the land for this project.”

He noted that the ICPC by its establishment Act is empowered to set up offices in the 36 states of the federation, adding that the agency now has offices in 21.

He added, “Permit me to inform you that the Kogi state office was among the second set of state offices that were established by ICPC in 2005 with a few members of staff in a rented apartment.

“This one-storey edifice being commissioned today has a conference room, offices, interview rooms, store, and detention facilities amongst others.

“Today as we speak, the commission currently has offices in 21 states across the country, and will replicate the same structures in all the other states of the federation where it does not have its property as offices.”
