Group Decries Incessant Abduction of Women in Kogi

The National Council of Women Society (NCWS) has decried the spate of Kidnapping of women in Kogi State.

The Kogi State Chairperson, Mrs Petra Balagbogbo who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, lamented that, six women have so far been kidnapped in the State, with many still penciled down for abduction.

She argued that women who are the home keepers are taking into custody, with demands for ransom by gunmen operating within Kogi State.

While appealing to criminal elements involved in this dastardly act to have a rethink, Mrs Balagbogbo further lamented that women who are the home keepers are now being subjected to all form of psychological trauma and torture.

She called on the State Government and all the security agencies to strive towards the protection of women in Kogi State.

“We are praying fervently for the timely release and unhurt of those already abducted. We are urging women to be vigilant and to be security conscious.

“We are using this medium to commend the Kogi State Government for their efforts in boosting security architecture in the State and the release of some abducted students of Confluence University of Science and Technology, (CUSTECH) Osara.

“The National Council of Women Society Kogi State Chapter is optimistic that this call will lead to the release of the women abducted and a stoppage to the incessant kidnapping of women in the State”, she stated.
