Former Kogi Senator, Smart Adeyemi has congratulated the Governor of the state, Ahmed Usman Ododo on his inauguration ceremony, citing reasons why he did not attend the January 27th event in Lokoja.

Adeyemi in a statement signed by his personal assistant, Kayode Olorunmotito explained that he was out of the country for the ECOWAS Parliament’s first extra ordinary session for 2024.

The statement read:

“As a member of the APC and a true democrat, I wish to commend the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on his inauguration.

“I join the good people of Kogi State and party faithfuls across the nation, to wish him the very best while in office. For me, party remains supreme and indeed the tenet of democracy is always to demonstrate courage. On this principle, I wish his administration the best leadership in the governance of the state.

“Let me also call on all Kogites and party members to come together and give maximum support to the new administration of Usman Ododo to ensure he succeeds as he takes up the responsibilities of his new office.

“As a dedicated party member, I had hoped to participate in this inaugural ceremony, but I have been out of the country enroute the ongoing Ecowas Parliament’s first extra ordinary session for 2024. Having been on tour to some west African countries before now, we will be proceeding shortly to Sierra Leone for meetings which is expected to last for approximately fourteen days.

“Be that as it may, I heartily congratulate the new Governor and pray that our great State becomes better under his watch.

“Let me equally stress that politics must be devoid of bitterness but should remain a struggle towards the betterment and emancipation of the people by ensuring fairness, justice and equity for all, improved standard of living, wealth creation and accelerated socio- economic development.

“Finally, we must all bear in mind that as leaders, we are not only accountable to the people we represent but will someday give account to our creator.”
