Former Kogi Deputy Governor, Awoniyi Resigns from PDP

The former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Abayomi Awoniyi has resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party in Kogi State.

Awoniyi tendered his resignation in a letter addressed to the party’s Chairman in Mopamuro Local Government Area of the state.

 

“I hereby write to tender my letter of resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, after 25 unbroken years of loyal and dedicated membership and service.

“With this resignation, I cease to be a member of the PDP. Kindly convey my sincere gratitude to the party faithful in Mopamuro LGA, Kogi West Senatorial District, and indeed the entire state, through your fellow LGA party chairmen, for their support and camaraderie, over the years.

 

“I look forward to our continued friendship despite no longer being members of the same political party,” he stated.

 

Abayomi Awoniyi had served the state as Deputy Governor under the Captain Idris Wada administration.

He had contested the party’s gubernatorial ticket ahead of the forthcoming November 11th election in the state, but lost to Senator Dino Melaye.
