The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has renewed the appointment of Professor Mohammed Suleiman Audu as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the institution for another term of two years
The decision to retain the Academic don followed a nomination by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi which was unanimously approved by the Senate of the institution at its 59th meeting held on Thursday, March 25, 2021.
Thus, the appointment has been ratified by the Governing Council,and renewed by the Senate of FUL at its 76th Regular Meeting held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
The approval, the Senate stated, was unanimous and based on the positive report of his performance.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor had announced at the weekly meeting of the Principal Officers Committee (POC) on Monday, that the tenure of the erudite Professor of History as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) had elapsed, being the reason he was absent at the meeting yesterday. During the meeting, the VC informed POC members that Professor M.S. Audu would no longer be participating or functioning in the capacity of DVC until Senate renews the appointment in accordance with the provision of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1993, as amended.
In his remarks, while making the presentation on the floor of Senate, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the recommendation was hinged on the satisfactory performance and cordial working relationship between him and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor whom he said has made tremendous and invaluable contributions to the success of his administration. He added that Professor M.S. Audu has been very committed, hardworking, and supportive of the administration, saying he had enjoyed working with him as a strong pillar and dependable ally without any regret.
Professor Akinwumi, thereafter, thanked members of Senate for their usual support assuring them of his unalloyed commitment to the progress of the University.
