Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has reacted to the reports of strained relationship with the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode after leaving his campaign organization to recently join that of the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.
Bello in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels TV denied Kayode ever being part of his campaign structure.
Recall that at his declaration to join the Presidential race, Kayode was announced as the Deputy National Coordinator of the campaign organization.
However, Bello insisted he only has a brother and friend relationship with the former Minister.
He said: “Mr. Fani Kayode is not a part of my campaign structure. He’s a friend of mine, he’s an associate, he’s an acquaintance, he’s a brother, somebody that respects me so highly, and I respect him so highly. We have been dealing, we have been relating and we are still relating. As I speak with you, yesterday he was with me, today we would be together again. We analyze the situation of this country, and we take common position.
“Fani Kayode is my friend, and he has always been with me. And he supports my political sojourn, and he is still with me till tomorrow. He has never officially been in the campaign structure.
“Not everybody that was there on my declaration are in the campaign. Friends, well wishers and Nigerians from across various backgrounds came together to give their support that day.”
