Two people have been killed in Egume community, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State after a vigilante officer reportedly misfired and hit the victims.
ebirareporters.com gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday morning, during a marathon sporting event organized by the community for the Yuletide season.
The event which commenced on Monday, played through to the next day whence a fight started over who emerged 3rd position.
Our correspondent learnt that the fight prompted the vigilante to fire his gun in the bid to restore calm, unfortunately hitting three people.
Two of them identified as Benjamin Adaji and Abdul Abbas died on the spot, while the third victim survived and receiving treatment at the time of filing this this report.
The unfortunate incident has thrown the community into panic, with several reactions on social media.
