Contractors Pocket N69.39m Meant for Erosion Control in Kogi Communities

Kogi

No fewer than four contractors paid by the Federal Government in 2023 to carry out various erosion and flood control projects in flood-ravaged communities in Kogi state have pocketed the funds.

The projects, according to reports by Tracka are three erosion projects awarded and paid for with zero work done under the Federal Ministry of Environment.

Tracka is an organization of active citizens tracking the implementation of government projects, participate in the governance process, and advocate for development in their communities.

In the recent update, it reported that “N6.63m was paid to CN Genetic Nigeria Limited in Nov 2023 for erosion and flood control near Girls Technical School, Okaba, Ankpa LGA. Our tracking as of Febraury 2026 revealed that the only drainage in that area was built 11 years ago by the then @kogistategovng.

“In Dec 2023, N16.39m was paid to Sutmon Nigeria Limited for erosion and flood control at Etahi/Idoji, Okene LGA, Kogi State. Our tracking at the project site revealed that nothing has been done there.

“The most brazen one? TWO separate payments for the same Usungwe-Uvete community in Okehi LGA, Kogi State. N16.44m to Peemac Integrated Services Ltd in March 2022 and N29.93m to AT-Thawri Multi-Service Ltd in August 2025. Total: N46.37m. Zero drainage. Zero work. While contractors collected millions, residents of Usungwe-Uvete watched gully erosion swallow their houses year after year every rainy season.

“There is no visible government intervention in that community. Not one trench. Not one culvert.

“This is Kogi state, a state that floods so severely that it has become a national emergency every year. The federal government knew this, paid contractors for this, and yet communities were left to drown. This is not negligence, this is fraud!”

Tracka called on the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFC) to investigate and compel the contractors to move to site.
