Breaking: Kogi Loses Monarch, Onu Egume

A high ranking Monarch in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, HRH Alh. Etila Ajeka, the Onu Egume has passed on.

ebirareporters.com gathered that the 78 year-old Igala Monarch who was the District Head of Okura, passed on earlier on Wednesday.

Alhaji Ejika, according to history, ascended the throne of the Onu of Egume in 1988, and was the 21st to hold the throne.

By the Igala tradition, the traditional title is highly revered, and occupant of the seat does not prostrate to greet the Atta Igala, the paramount ruler of the Igala people.

Following his demise, the people of the state have taken turns to post goodwill farewells on social media.

Usman Okai Austin, who is the House of Representatives candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Dekina/Bassa Constituency described the King as peaceful and responsible.

“Very refined Traditional Ruler, is gone home . Onu Egume Chief Etila Ajeka the 21st Onu of Egume his reign has been peaceful and non controversial, very responsible personality. Anuuuu,” he said.

SaintPat Onuh wrote: “The little Time I spent with you I learned so many things related to Culture and Tradition. Rest in Peace the Paramount Ruler of Okura District HRH Alhaji Etila Ajeka Anu Maikasa. R.I.P”
