The tricycle rider who committed suicide on Tuesday by jumping off Meme bridge in Lokoja, Kogi State, has not been found as at the time of filing this report.
Efforts by officers and divers with the Marine Department of the Kogi State Police Command have been to no avail, as the search team continued to intensify efforts.
The Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, for the Command, SP.William Ovie Aya, “immediately the command got the information, we sent our men from our marine department in search of the man in conjunction with local divers.
“But up to this moment, efforts to recover the man has not yielded any positive result.”
The incident happened at about 12:30 pm, a few metres from the popular Dunamis Church in Lokoja.
The deceased was said to have arrived at the bridge, parked his tricycle, and jumped into the river.
An eyewitness told pressmen that they were helpless to prevent the man from committing suicide.
“There was nothing anybody could do when the Keke Man jumped into the river. When he jumped, we saw a snake, and there was nothing anyone could do at that moment,” he said.
