The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kogi State on Saturday held a peaceful affirmative ward congress across the 21 local government areasnof the state.
The party decision do go by the affirmative pattern was based on the directive of Governor Yahaya Bello through his deputy Chief Edward Davaid Onoja on Friday.
The party through the governors directive maintained that any individual above 35 years of age should not be given the position of youth leader of the APC.
Moreover, the party directed that all dead executives should be replaced as it will not condole ghost members while those that have left the party should also be replaced.
DAILY POST, who monitored the ward congress in some local government areas in Kogi state, observed that it was peaceful.
In Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, the Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources Hon. Abdulmumin Danga, who also doubles as leader of the party in the area, lauded party faithful for their support in moving the APC forward.
The affirmative ward congress was observed and monitred by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).
Elsewhere in Kogi West, APC party members were seen in orderly manner, while the distribution of party materials recorded a hitch-free process.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, while speaking to newsmen in Yagba East Local Government Area, noted that the exercise has been smooth with the atmosphere very calm, describing the peaceful exercise as a product of party’s decision.
According to the Commissioner, the party’s decision to adopt the affirmative ward congress is supreme, adding that those who got political appointments, some deceased persons, and those who have left the party would be replaced.
For the Kogi State Commissioner of Environment, Chief Victor Omofaiye, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijumu Local Government Area is united and working assiduously for the progress of the party.
Chief Omofaiye made this known while speaking with Newsmen at his home town, Ekinrin on the Ward Congress of APC.
The Commissioner who expressed satisfaction with the machinery put in place for the Congress, said the party in Ijumu is adopting affirmative election as directed by the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
According to him, although disagreement is bound to exist in any group, it can be resolved amicably with understanding of parties involved.
A two time member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Sunday Karimi, has also described the APC ward congress to be largely peaceful in Yagba West Local Government of Kogi State
