Operatives of the Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS), in collaboration with local hunters, have rescued an abducted Dangote Cement Factory employee, Muri Sadiq, following a joint counter-offensive in Obajana, Lokoja Local Government Area.
The operational success was disclosed in a statement released by the KSVS Public Relations Officer, Idris S. Idris.
According to the report, the incident occurred on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m., when an armed kidnapping syndicate attacked a team of workers laying pipelines inside a forest enclave near the Dangote Cement facility.
Responding to a distress call, vigilante operatives attached to the Zariagi Sub-Command engaged the attackers in a gun duel. Although the firepower of the security team forced the gang to retreat with gunshot injuries, the attackers managed to abduct the 41-year-old worker during their escape.
Following the initial clash, KSVS operatives and local hunters regrouped, reinforced their tactical positions, and pursued the suspects deep into the forest, forcing the syndicate to abandon the captive unhurt.
Reacting to the successful rescue, the Comptroller-General of the Kogi State Vigilante Service, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Anataku, commended the operational team for their swift action and thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for supporting the service with logistical backing.
Anataku reiterated his warning to criminal elements operating across the state to vacate Kogi or face sustained tactical operations, while appealing to residents to assist security agencies with timely and confidential intelligence to aid crime prevention.
