First Lady, Remi Tinubu Commissions Kogi Treasury House, Empowers 800 Women

Nigeria’s First Lady and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Saturday commissioned a newly built Treasury House in Kogi State named after her.

Senator Tinubu arrived the state on a working visit, using the opportunity to also flag off empowerment of over 800 vulnerable women across the state.

The First Lady was received into the state by Governor  Ahmed Usman Ododo and his wife, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo(who doubles as the Kogi State RHI Coordinator).

The event attracted political heavyweights, including federal ministers, traditional rulers, and thousands of ecstatic women groups who turned out in colorful uniforms to welcome the august visitor.

As part of her itinerary, Senator Oluremi Tinubu also performed the official commissioning of an equipped Primary Healthcare Centre at Lokongoma Phase I.

Speaking shortly after cutting the ribbons, the First Lady showered encomiums on Governor Ododo for turning the state into a construction site and prioritizing the wellness of the masses.

“These projects are clear testaments to Governor Ododo’s unyielding commitment to the welfare of his people. A robust healthcare system and transparent public institutions are the bedrock of national development. I urge the good people of Kogi to guard these facilities jealously,” the First Lady remarked.

Shifting the train to the Government House Banquet Hall, the First Lady directly touched the lives of the grassroots by flagging off the distribution of start-up grants and premium empowerment packages to over 800 petty traders, artisans, and vulnerable women under the umbrella of her signature Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

Senator Tinubu explained that the scheme was deliberately engineered to weaponize women with self-reliance, shoot up household incomes, and buffer families against current economic shocks.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. Use these start-up capitals to expand your businesses, support your households, and lift others up in your communities,” she charged the jubilant beneficiaries.

She further gave a resounding pat on the back to the First Lady of Kogi State, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, praising her relentless drive and passion for executing impactful, life-changing interventions for women and children in the state.

In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed  profound gratitude of the government and people of Kogi State to the First Lady for her deep-seated love for the state.

He reiterated that his administration’s blueprint remains fully aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, promising that Kogi will continue to roll out people-oriented governance.

“Your Excellency, we don’t just build projects here; we maintain them. I assure you that these newly commissioned facilities will be meticulously managed to serve our people for generations to come,” Governor Ododo said.
