Kogi Central Youths Laud Dr. Mustapha, Ambassador Sanusi for Lighting Up Okene’s Bariki Market

The Kogi Central Chapter of the North Central Youth Development Initiative has commended the Director General of Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Alhaji Abubakar Aliu Sanusi (Gamji), for lighting up popular Okene market, (Ohu Bariki) with solar streetlights, a move that has revived night-time trading activities in the historic commercial hub.

The youths, in press statement through its spokesperson, Muhammed Aliu described the intervention as a visionary and impactful project that has further assured of impactful commitments to sustaining peace and renewing safety, vibrancy, and economic life in Ebiraland.

The NCYDI noted the sense of relief and delight expressed by Ebira people when the photographs of bustling market activities as late as 8pm on the eve of Eid-Al-Adha went viral on social media.

The group further that the solar lighting initiative has enabled traders and residents to conduct business safely into the night, a development that was virtually impossible before due to darkness after sunset.

“We are particularly proud that these illustrious sons have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the development and well-being of their people through practical and sustainable solutions,” the statement added.

The youth group also noted the security advantage of the initiative, “The provision of solar lighting is not only enhancing commerce but also improving security and extending productive hours for hardworking market men and women in Okene.”

The youth body further praised the two leaders for setting a worthy example of purposeful leadership and genuine service to the grassroots, describing their action as a reflection of deep understanding of the real needs of the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The group urged other well-meaning indigenes and public officials to emulate the gesture towards building a more developed and prosperous Kogi Central.
