The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced Phase Three of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Kogi State, with the final stage of the process scheduled to run from May 11 to July 10, 2026.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Shehu Wahab, announced the development while briefing journalists at the INEC State Headquarters in Lokoja, describing the exercise as the concluding phase of the ongoing nationwide voter registration cycle that began online in August 2025.
Wahab explained that the exercise covers new voter registrations for citizens who have turned 18, transfer of polling units, correction of personal details, and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
According to him, Phase One, conducted between August and November 2025, recorded 114,530 registration activities, while Phase Two, held from January to April 2026, rose significantly to 164,193 activities.
Women lead voter registration figures
He noted that women participated more actively than men in both phases, with 93,232 female registrants compared to 70,961 male registrants in Phase Two alone.
To improve access, Wahab said INEC would continue its rotational registration strategy, deploying mobile teams to wards and hard-to-reach communities.
He also assured residents of adequate security at registration centres through collaboration with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).
Wahab urged the media and other stakeholders to intensify awareness campaigns to encourage eligible citizens to participate fully in the exercise.
