Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of respected community leader and elder, Alhaji Adai Ahmed Obeito.
In a statement of condolence through the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, the Governor described the late Obeito as a strong political voice and a pillar of unity whose life was devoted to the service of his people and the progress of his community.
He noted that the deceased used his age, wisdom, and wealth of experience to foster peace, strengthen communal bonds, and guide younger generations toward responsible leadership.
“Alhaji Adai Ahmed Obeito was more than a leader; he was a bridge builder, a man whose voice carried weight not because of volume, but because of truth, experience, and sincerity. His contributions to community development and political engagement will not be forgotten,” the Governor
The Governor further remarked that the passing of the community leader is a great loss not only to his immediate community but to Adavi Local Government Area, Kogi Central and Kogi State at large, as his counsel and influence helped shape positive outcomes in critical moments.
Governor Ododo noted that the late Obeito belonged to a rare generation of leaders who placed community above self, consistently offering wise counsel and standing firmly for justice, fairness, and collective progress.
He added that his legacy of selfless service and unwavering commitment to unity will continue to inspire both present and future leaders.
He urged community members and political stakeholders to honour the memory of the departed elder by sustaining the values he stood for, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and a shared vision for development, stressing that the greatest tribute to his life would be the preservation of the harmony he worked tirelessly to build.
Governor Ododo prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and asked God to grant his family, associates, and the entire community the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
