20bn Bailout Forfeiture:. Yahaya Bello Should Tender a Public Apology – Okai Austin

Popular activist and blogger, Usman Okai Austin has asked the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello to tender a public apology to the people of the state over Sterling Bank’s forfeiture of bailout fund which the government had earlier claimed was nonexistent.

Austin stated this in reaction to the Friday Court judgment which approved the forfeiture of N19,333, 333,333.36 billion to the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The fund was meant to pay owed salaries of civil servants and pensioners in the state, but according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was fixed in an account with Sterling Bank.

In a statement sent to Ebira Reporters, Austin lamented that Kogi State has just lost N20 billion to EFCC due to Yahaya Bello’s “greed and wickedness”.

Speaking further, the Peoples Democratic Party frontier lashed at Governor Bello, adding that imprints of this obnoxious act are usually on the poor workers in the state who are victims of percentage salaries in recent years.

He queried the decision of the State Governor amidst unpaid salaries, pensions and economic hardship.

“It’s unfortunate that this is happening at a time when Civil Servants and Pensioners are committing suicide due to hunger & starvation.

“In as much as the unfolding scenario has exposed the high rate of dirtiness in Kogi state financial dealings, it has a negative impact on our workers and economy.

“I always know that this Government has nothing good to offer the good people of Kogi State, I have been called different names whenever I raised the alarm of Bello’s counterfactual navigations. But today, I have been vindicated”, he said.
