2023 Presidency: Fayemi Best Bet For Nigeria – Kogi APC Chieftains

…

Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the auspices of National Prosperity Movement (NPM), Kogi State chapter, has called on the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to heed clarion calls and join the 2023 presidential race.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Friday and jointly signed by the State Coordinator, Dr Abutalib Major Musa; Hon Abdullahi Suleiman Today Today, Kogi Central Coordinator; Hon Gimba Tanimu Kabir, Kogi West Coordinator and Hon Anaja Amidu Ibrahim, Deputy State Coordinator and Kogi East Coordinator of NPM, the party stalwarts said Fayemi offers Nigeria the brightest chance to become greater that it is currently.

The Kogi APC chieftains said it is imperative that all men and women of goodwill across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria participate in deciding who preside over the nation from 2023.

“Nigeria is blessed, no doubt. A lot has been done, especially in the last six years, to harness the nation’s huge potentials, but, more efforts are still required to move Nigeria away from the precipice to the mountain top.

“A number of politicians have shown interest in the all-important 2023 presidential election and it is within their rights as Nigerians to aspire. However, the current realities in our nation calls for an articulate, brilliant, energetic and sound manager who can steer the ship of the country to a safe harbour.

“Without an iota of doubt, the Governor of Ekiti state and Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ forum, former Minister, scholar, activist and politician, Dr. Kayode Fayemi offers Nigeria the brightest chance to become greater than it is currently,” the statement read.

Kogi NPM insisted that Fayemi is more qualified than all aspirants that have shown interest, overtly and covertly, in running for the nation’s top seat.

They posited that the Ekiti state Governor is a tested public officer who has left indelible marks in every political office held so far.

“Imbued with intellect, humility and leadership acumen, Dr. Fayemi has proven to be a reliable administrator.

“Fayemi, in three years of his ongoing second term in office as Governor, has touched all communities in Ekiti State through construction of roads, provision of pipe borne water, renovation of primary and secondary schools, renovation of basic and comprehensive health centres, general hospitals as well as Ekiti State Teaching Hospital where the internal roads were rehabilitated, payment of WAEC and NECO fee for students and many empowerment schemes under the Social Investment programme. There is monthly sustenance cash transfer for 15,000 Ekiti elders and monthly food support for the elderly across the state called ‘Ounje arugbo’.

“A detribalized Nigerian, Dr. Fayemi has what it takes to unite Nigeria and Nigerians. He is our best bet for an evenly shared national prosperity.

“All patriotic Nigerian must join us as we heighten calls on Fayemi to declare interest in 2023 presidential election and lead the nation to the promised land.

“This is a call that holds key to our progress as a nation. This call guarantees every Nigerian a country they will be proud of. This altruist call will deliver the right leadership that will consolidate on the gains of the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“With Fayemi as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we have assurance that Nigeria take her rightful place in the comity of nations.

“With over 22 years of uninterrupted civilian rule, ours is no longer a nascent democracy. 2023 is not about experiments but practical implementation of all we have learned so far about democracy and democratic rule.

“With Dr. Fayemi, Nigeria will not be experimenting. We will witness rapid development from a prepared mind, a patriotic leader with integrity and honour,” the group said.

They called on leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to shelve personal interests and embrace the national interest as represented by Dr Fayemi.

The Kogi State NPM inaugurated local government coordinators of the movement in Lokoja in March 2020 with a promise to birth an effective and visionary political leadership in 2023.
