The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Barr. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem has won the election for Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in Kogi State.
The Returning Officer for the 2023 House of Representatives Election in Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Prof. Gbenga Ibileye, declared that the Candidate of the APC – Barr. Abdulraheem polled a total of 12,049 votes to win the election.
Prof. Ibileye noted that another candidate, Ziya Gwatana Gabriel of the Labour Party scored 842, while Idrisu Lawal Muhammadu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) had 4,303.
Others, as announced by the returning officer, include Raji Sheidu of the NRM – 41 Votes, Okino Aloysius Adeiza of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP – 8,110 votes, Bello Abdulazeez of the PRP – 249 and Ismaila Abdulmajeed of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) 39 votes.
Meanwhile, after a long run, the candidate of the APC for the central senatorial election in the state, INEC has declared Abubakar Ohere winner of the election.
The former Commissioner for Works and Housing defeated his closest rival and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan with a margin of 324 votes.
According to the result announced by the returning officer, Professor Rotimi Ajayi, the winner Ohere polled 52,087 votes, while Akpoti came second with 51,763 votes.
The election has been adjudged as one of the fiercely contested in the history of the state, with upheavals in the minds of electorates and political analysts.
