Kogi Govt Concessions Reference Hospital Okene to Private Firm

Kogi State Government has revealed that it has entered into a concession agreement with Zenith Medicare and Kidney Center, a private company to manage the Reference Hospital Okene.



The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Zakari Usman disclosed this on Thursday at a press conference in Lokoja.

The Commissioner said Governor Yahaya Bello approved a new management structure as well as new equipments for the hospital.

According to the Commissioner, the concession agreement came on the heels of the government’s desire to ensure sustainability of these equipment and facilities in the hospital.

He noted that the company has a world-class reputation and highly recommendable in maintenance and management.

Dr. Usman said the Reference Hospital is a tertiary medical institution fully equipped with cutting-edge technology to provide health relief to the people of the state, and reduce medical tourism in Nigeria.

He also revealed the Governor’s approval for the purchase of more equipment for the state specialist hospital in Lokoja, Prince Abubakar Audu University Teaching Hospital Anyigba, and Ultra Modern General Hospital.
