Former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, on Saturday, August 15, donated ₦10 million to the Grimard College of Nursing Sciences, Anyigba, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The donation is earmarked for the establishment of a Skills Laboratory Centre at the health institution.
Disclosing the gesture in a statement via his official X handle following the visit, Obi stated that the support forms part of his commitment to strengthening healthcare training nationwide.
Obi recalled his previous intervention when the college faced accreditation risks due to a lack of operational transport, noting that his donation of a school bus helped the institution retain its accreditation to train healthcare professionals.
Addressing management, staff, and students of the college, he urged the students to remain diligent in their academic pursuits, highlighting the global demand for nursing professionals.
“Every nation striving for sustainable development and an improved quality of life for its citizens must deliberately invest in two crucial sectors: education and healthcare,” Obi said, calling on private individuals and organizations to complement government efforts in funding critical infrastructure.
Grimard College of Nursing Sciences, Anyigba, remains a major health training facility in Kogi East, producing nurses and midwives serving primary and tertiary healthcare facilities across the state and beyond.
