The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye, has assured the people of the state that he would run a people-centred government when elected into office on November 11.
Senator Melaye, who disclosed this during an interactive session with youths who visited him at his residence in Abuja at the weekend, said he has laid out plans that will drastically reduce poverty in the state.
According to him, “the first line of the current economy of our state is built on salaries and remuneration. Yet, this is not available to the people, particularly those in the local government areas, including the pensioners.
“I want to assure the people of Kogi State that under my leadership as governor of the state, the federal allocations and state contributions designed for the local governments will not go into some private pockets.
“The local government workers, as well as the teachers, will have access to their funds.
“I have promised the people of Kogi State that I will put an end to salaries by percentages in our state, and when elected, I will do so.
“Kogi State has no business with poverty with huge mineral resources that abounds across our state,” he emphasized.
Speaking at the event, the leader of the youths, Mallam Yusuf Onalo, said they visited the PDP candidate to reinforce their support for the PDP and Senator Melaye in the election.
He said the youths of Kogi State are arriving at a consensus that Senator Melaye is the best hand to reposition the state for the benefit of the people.
